The year is 1901. Theodore Roosevelt has just been sworn in as President of the United States of America. California moves into the turn of the century and Pacific Electric introduces the Red Car streetcar with its 500-class series. Red Car #510 rolls off the assembly line and the little red streetcar” is put into service in the Los Angeles area. For over 30 years Red Car #510 connects the citizens of Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties until 1934 when Red Car #510 is brought up into the San Bernardino Mountains, placed on a foundation with an addition, and is turned into a bunkhouse for loggers felling trees in the area. Over the decades it changed hands as a private residence, and now, 118 years since it first rolled off the assembly line, Red Car #510 is once again available for a new steward to call home”.
